Home to some of Poland’s finest classical musicians, the National Philharmonic in Warsaw also brings international talent to the stage, with symphonic concerts, recitals and chamber music events.
National Philharmonic
Host of the International Chopin Piano Competition and the annual Warsaw Autumn festival of contemporary Polish Music, the National Philharmonic in Warsaw building is also home to an orchestra, choir, and chamber orchestra. The original building, modelled on the Paris Opera, opened in 1901 – although, as with so many other Warsaw landmarks, it was destroyed in the Second World War and had to be reconstructed in the 1950s in a more contemporary style.
You can find the current programme of events at the official Warsaw Philharmonic website.
National Philharmonic address: ul. Jasna 5, Warsaw 00-950 Poland
Powiśle and Northern Śródmieście Districts: Sometimes referred to as ‘downtown Warsaw’, Śródmieście contains the Royal Route of Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmiescie – two historic streets crammed with things to see and do. The area is also home to the iconic Palace Of Science And Culture and the stunning InterContinental Warszawa hotel. These districts are peppered with amazing restaurants, including the Michelin listed Szóstka.
